 Wet alarm check valve

 ZSFZ wet alarm valve is a one-way valve that only allows water to flow into the sprinkler system in one direction, and drives the supporting parts of alarm valve under the specified pressure and flow rate. Automatic wet sprinkler system are composed of alarm valve, water flow indicator, pressure switch and sprinkler head etc.. It's widely used in fixed fire extinguish system. The pipe network of the system is filled with clear water under certain pressure perennial, long-term on ready condition of working. When somewhere has a fire in protection area, environment temperature will increase. The sprinkler of heat sensitive components (glass bulb) in organic solution will be thermal expand and produce a lot of pressure, until the broken of glass bulb. It will open sprinkler and jet, and automatically drive whole system with sound and light alarm signal, in order to achieve the purpose of fire alarm and fire control, put out the fire.

1.1. Product structure

     We can know from the figure 1, ZSFZ wet alarm valve device is composed of alarm valve, retard chamber, water motor alarm, pressure switch, drain valve, filter etc..

1.1.1. Alarm valve

     The alarm valve is a cover plate type alarm valve, mainly composed of valve body, seat and disc three parts. The whole valve body is divided into two cavities upper and lower by disc. The upper cavity (system side) is connected with the system pipe network, and the lower cavity (water supply side) is connected with the water source. Each valve body has a seat ring. There's a plurality of groove holes on seat ring leading to the retarder inlet pipe.

     When system is on ready condition, the groove holes on the seat ring are covered and closed by the valve disc, and the alarm channel leading to the water motor alarm is blocked; When the upper and lower cavity pressure difference reaches a certain value, the valve disc is opened, water flows from the water supply side to the system side, the water motor alarm alarm and water system spray; When the upper and lower cavity pressures are frequently opened, a small water refill valve is set on the valve disc. When the pipe network at the system side has slight leakage or water source pressure fluctuates, the water refill valve can be used to replenish water to the pipe network, balance the pressure in the upper and lower chambers, stabilize the valve disc and avoid false alarm.

 

1.1.2. Retard chamber

     The retard chamber device is a cylindrical water storage container with water inlet and outlet. The lower end of the water inlet is connected with alarm port of alarm valve. The upper end of the water outlet is connected with the water motor alarm. The system of water supply pressure exists fluctuation phenomenon, makes the disc opened instantly, water through the grooves and holes on the seat entered the retard chamber firstly. Due to water pressure fluctuation time is short, the disc will be automatically reset(closed) soon. So the water volume enter the retard chamber is small, which can be collected by retard chamber, and through the bottom of the drain discharge. The buffer time function of the retarder avoids the false alarm of the water motor alarm caused by water pressure fluctuation. The time required for water to flow from the water inlet of the retarder to the water outlet is the delay time, which is 5 ~ 90s in this device. After water flow stops, the water left in the retarder is sent out from the drain, and the time required for completion is less than 5mins.

 

1.1.3. Water motor alarm

     Water motor alarm is a mechanical device driven by water power. It consists of shell, impeller, bell clapper and bell cover etc.. When the valve disc is opened, the water enters the retarder through the grooves and holes on the seat ring. When it fulls, will continue to flow to the water inlet of water motor alarm. Under a certain water pressure, the impeller drives the bell clapper to rotate, so that the bell clapper will hit the aluminum bell and send out an alarm sound.

 

1.2. Working principle

Wet alarm valve is on long-term ready condition for working. The system side water is filled with working pressure, when there's a fire within automatic fire sprinkler system control area, the sprinkler head thermal sensitive element will be heated and exploded, then spray automatically. The system side pressure of wet alarm valve drops, under the action of the pressure difference, the valve disc opens automatically. The water from supply side flows into the system side to replenish water to the pipe network, and the whole pipe network is in the state of automatic sprinkler. Meanwhile, a small number of water through the holes on the seat flow to retard chamber and water motor alarm. Under a certain pressure and flow condition, water motor alarm will send out an alarm sound, pressure switch converts the pressure signal into electrical signal, activate the fire pump and auxiliary extinguish equipment to replenish water and extinguish fire. The pipe network equipped with water flow indicator will act, output signal, make the system control terminal discover the area of fire in time, achieve the purpose of automatic sprinkler and alarm.

2. Installation and test

2.1. Installation

2.1.1. Need to do leakage test before installation. The test pressure should be 2 times of the rated working pressure, and the pressure should be maintained for more than 5mins. There should be no leakage at the valve disc.

2.1.2. Should be installed vertically in the pressure test and flushing qualified pipeline. Pay attention to the direction of water flow. Installation position should be considered enough operation space for repaired and maintained.

2.1.3. The system pipes should be thoroughly flushed, and inside pipe should be coated with anti-rust layer, make sure that there's no dirt in the pipes.

2.1.4. Each drainage outlet should be separately connected to the sewer pipe alone, keep it unimpeded for unified drainage.

2.1.5. The pressure gauge should be turned to the position of seeing the reading clearly.

2.1.6. The position of the water motor alarm and alarm valve: connected pipeline has been installed before delivery. If the pipeline needs to be rearranged, the horizontal distance should be ≤20m, height difference should be 5m.

2.2.1. After the pipe network system finish installation, fill the system pipe with water, slowly boost the pressure and exhaust the air in the pipe, boost the pressure to the working pressure of the system, check whether there is leakage in the whole system. If qualified, do the alarm test and pipeline water supply test then.

2.2.2. Alarm test: open the end test valve(installed at the end of the system), water motor alarm, pressure switch and water flow indicator should make alarm action accordingly. Or open the drain valve(8) on the wet alarm valve device, when the flow is equivalent to a standard sprinkler(15mm, K=80±4), water motor alarm and pressure switch should make corresponding alarm action.

2.2.3. Open the alarm valve test valve(10), water flows from the inlet side of the copper pipe into the alarm device directly, in the case of the valve disc is not on ready condition, can do the water motor alarm and pressure switch alarm performance test too.

2.2.4. Pipeline water supply test: open drain valve(8), there should be a large amount of water flow out steadily, indicating that the pipeline water supply is smooth and normal. Otherwise, it should be checked. Pipeline system need to exhaust to remove blockage for making sure unimpeded.

 

3. Inspection and maintenance regular

3.1. The rubber sealing surface of the valve disc should be removed from the dirt and foreign matter attached promptly. The service life of the rubber seal is in 18 months generally. If there is wear and aging, it should be replaced in time.

3.2. The small holes and sealing surface in the annular groove of the valve seat sealing ring should b removed from dirt and foreign matters, and the sealing surface should not be scratched. The small holes should be unobstructed and should be replaced if it cannot be repaired.

3.3. Clean up the dirt in the filter on the alarm valve device in time to keep the pipeline unimpeded.

3.4. Check and clean the dirt in the retarder. The orifice of throttling should not be blocked by foreign matter.
